We Have Access

Million Dollar Question.
If you had a choice, and you do, would you rather achieve access or acceptance?

Think about it.

Would you seek access: that is permission, liberty, or ability to enter, approach, or pass to and from a place or to approach or communicate with a person or thing: freedom or ability to obtain or make use of something?

Or would you rather seek acceptance: the quality or state of being approved of, and the ability to maintain the state that earns approval?

God has given us access to the desirable things of this life; such as, shelter, food, companionship, finances, peace, love, happiness, and salvation. Yet, we often do without these things because we seek acceptance.

I often think of Moses and the children of Israel. God gave them access to the promise land. He even told them to take the land. They hesitated. Spies were sent out first. They desired acceptance from the existing inhabitants. Even David tells us in Psalm 23 of how God gave him access. “He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Despite the presence of various adversaries, God provided an access point, the table. The Canaanite woman illustrates this very well. She was not accepted by Jesus’ disciples while pleading on behalf of her daughter. Even Jesus would not accept her as a recipient of what belonged to others. Yet she knew that she had access, permission, the right.

“Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."

I believe that everyday, God makes a way out of no way. He constantly provides points of access. Yet we being who we are seek the approval of others. Just remember that the ball in a football game is never passed to a person. It is passed to a position. There are people, things, and unfavorable circumstances that seek to keep us from reaching these positions of authority, liberty, and power. They will never accept our plans or goals. But we are to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
