The Moving Church

The church is a mobile body. Jesus said himself that the gates of Hell would not prevail against his Church. Gates do nothing but swing back and forth. The Church however moves. Furthermore, I believe that this is why, as recorded in Ephesians 6, the whole armour that Paul describes only covers the front of the body. The Church was designed to move in a foward direction.

We are called by God to be God’s agents to transform the world. I believe that though we, the Church, are not of the world, we are in the world. Therefore, Christians cannot live isolated lives or lives that deny communication, even altercation with non-believers. Many newly converted Christians, babes in Christ, often feel that they must disconnect from society in the name of the Church. However, in order for Christianity to spread, we must actively share with others the message of Christ.

Therefore, Church should be open to all people at any stage in their spiritual journey and warmly welcome any who desire to walk in the way of Jesus Christ. The difficult issues of our day must be discussed, understanding that God's Word touches and guides the congregation. It is possible to make a real difference both to the local community we serve and in the community which we live; also to the world.
