Where Do We Go From Here?

I'm reminded of the Apostle Paul on the Damascus Road (Acts 9). The Lord met Paul that day. Paul was on his way to accomplish his goals. Like many of us, he had movement, motivation, and a mission. But God had a better plan.

The truth of God blinded Paul to the world of his imagination- a world in which he thought he had control. Yet he had to humble himself, firstly, through the acknowledgement of his own ignorance of God (Read the story, Acts 9); secondly, Paul sought God’s desire for his present day activity (Read the story, Acts 9), finally, Paul surrendered to the will of God through the care, guidance, and discipline of others. Not knowing who God was, he found out that God is.

Many of us have had an experience similar to that of Paul. On that occasion, we, Like Paul, had no idea of what was happening. Some of us called God 'something', 'a feeling', 'intuition'; but then God revealed God self before us, in the presence of our family, friends, and even our enemies. They (family, friends, and enemies) all saw the light-the manifestation that something was happening in our lives; yet we alone heard the voice of God (Acts 22).

But where do we go from here?

Some of us are progressing forward, our movement is prayerful; yet well paced. Our motivation has been heightened, and our mission enhanced. Some of us are at a stand still, still standing in the middle of the road, waiting for God to move out of the way. Some are continually taking one step forward, two steps backward, living inconsistently between indifference and indecision; and still others are sitting on the side of the road hoping that those courageous individuals that move triumphantly forward will release a bit of spiritual truth along the way, enough to keep them comfortable in the road side.

In their state of unproductive, spiritual inactivity, these are those that attempt to live abundantly and carelessly through the God relationship of others.
